Please join me in supporting the work the Amy Gillett Foundation does in the pursuit of cycling safety.
This year we are cycling from Australia's capital, Canberra to Melbourne covering 850km over 6 days to spread the word of mutual respect on the road and campaign for Minimum Passing Distances in Victoria.
Since the inception of the Amy Gillett Foundation 'A Metre Matters' campaign, we have worked with local and state governments to ensure that New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania have Minimum Passing Distances in place and that Queensland and the ACT have introduced trial Minimum Passing Distances in place.
I support the foundation for a number of reasons, but ultimately it's to ensure that anyone, both young and old can feel comfortable and safe enough to ride for fun, fitness, or commuting.
Any contribution is appreciated. Ride safe!
Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
