Armon's Supporting a Metre Matters
Story
I am aiming to raise money for the Amy Gillett Foundation by participating in the 2016 Share the Road Tour covering 850 km over 6 days from Canberra to Melbourne. Our journey has overnight stops in Jindabyne, Corryong, Beechworth, Mansfield and Yarra Glen. And lots of hills - mountains actually.
We are taking the A Metre Matters message to the Victorian Government to encourage them to join Queensland, South Austrlaia, the ACT and Tasmania - all of whom have amended legislation to ensure motorists pass cyclists safely. I would welcome any contribution, great or small to support this vital campaign!
Road safety, and safe cycling is a cause we all need to get behind and support. Lets make Australia as cycling friendly and safe as Belgium (see photograph above from top of Kemmelberg).
The Amy Gillett Foundation is not funded by government. The Tour is their major fundraising effort, meaning my pain is to their benefit.

Amy Gillett Foundation
The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) began its work in 2006 in the name of Amy Gillett, who was tragically killed as a result of being hit by a motorist whilst cycling with the Australian Women’s Road cycling team in Germany in 2005.
The Amy Gillett Foundation's vision is for safe bicycling throughout Australia in order to achieve the ultimate target of zero bicycling fatalities.
The Foundation promotes a safe and harmonious relationship of shared respect between bicyclists and motorists – to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road whether we're on two wheels or on four. Why? Because everyone deserves to arrive at their destination safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport.
